Endometriosis View 7
Photograph of the left fallopian tube status post (following) tubal ligation. This patient had pelvic pain in this region especially around the time of menses. Note the presence of vesicular lesions (fluid filled blebs or blisters) along the fallopian tube that are characteristic of chronic irritation. Tubal ligation is associated with the presence of endometriosis near the cut end of the fallopian tube, which is the most likely source of the chronic irritation in this situation. Ablation (removal) of the peritoneal surface along the fallopian tube often (in my experience) significantly decreases the pain that is experienced.
