Photograph of (a portion of) the right ovary and fallopian tube after these structures have been completely freed from adhesions to the posterior ovarian fossa (area normally underneath and behind the ovary). It is often necessary (and definitely optimal) to completely free the tube and ovary from their sites of adhesion prior to initiating a repair of the fallopian tube. Once freed up, the distal end (end farther from the uterus) of the tube can be gently grasped and surgically opened.
